CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS

By properly managing the project and ensuring that materials and the tradesmen were on site when required, but not cutting corners, Martyn and his team were able to complete the whole project 1 week ahead of schedule.

Simon & Claire Marinker – October 2018

We undertook a major home renovation project. We have been absolutely delighted with Martyn, Nick  and the whole team. The superb quality of workmanship and  professionalism was first class. The work was completed on time and on budget.

They offered incredibly useful advice and insight as the job unfolded to ensure that we got the very best result for our home. Their attention to detail was exemplary. All the team worked incredibly hard, regardless of the weather! but always with a smile. Most importantly we trusted them, their judgement and approach. We couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

We would have no hesitation in recommending Martyn and his team and will certainly be instructing them on any future works.

Darran Britton, West Haddon Pre School

The children, staff, committee and parents at West Haddon Pre-School would like to thank Martyn and his team for building a fantastic purpose-built pre-school.

The new building will hugely benefit generations of children, helping to give them the best start to their school life. From the outset Martyn was open, honest and very professional, giving us the confidence that the work would be completed on time and with the best possible finish. We had to work to very tight deadlines due to grant funding restrictions, which Martyn embraced, demonstrating what a great working relationship he has with other contractors. I’ve never seen so many plasterers in one room on one day! He pulled out all the stops! The snow and ice didn’t delay progress either.

He kept us informed of progress throughout the project and showed great understanding of additional requirements when working on a school site, as did his team. The building exceeded our expectations. It is a fabulous pre-school and has everything we could possibly need and is finished to a very high standard. It fits in perfectly with the landscape of the school field on which it is sited. Martyn returned after 12 months to carry out a snagging inspection and promptly rectified the few minor issues.

It is refreshing to work with a builder who is so professional, friendly and honest. We are proud of what has been achieved and would recommend Martyn without a doubt.

Braunston Pre-school Building Project

In March 2010 Braunston Pre-school were notified that we had been awarded a major capital grant by Northamptonshire County Council to enlarge our premises at Braunston Village hall to improve the Pre-school environment and enable us to increase the maximum number of children we could accommodate from 26 to 40. A binding clause in the grant was that all work had to be completed by 31st March 2011 or the grant would be withdrawn.

Due to circumstances out of our control the planning application for the new single storey extension could not be lodged until the end of September 2010 and planning permission was not granted until 16th of November 2010 leaving us only four and a half months to appoint a contractor and complete the project. With the assistance of Jeremy Burt, our architect, we had identified 3 local builders with the necessary qualifications to undertake school building projects. These were asked to tender on the basis that if they were awarded the contract the work on site must commence on 13th December 2010 and be completed by 25th March 2011 with penalty clauses inserted for failure to complete on time.

The contract was awarded to MJ Parratt Ltd of Newnham and duly on 13th December the heavy plant arrived on site to begin clearing the site and excavating for the special piled foundations required to protect a nearby Oak tree which was subject to a TPO. The excavations were completed and we were about to start the piling when the weather broke and we faced over 2 weeks when the work had to stop due to heavy snow and freezing conditions. Early in the new year the weather improved and we were able to restart work 2 weeks behind on an already tight schedule.

By properly managing the project and ensuring that materials and the tradesmen were on site when required, but not cutting corners, Martyn and his team were able to complete the whole project 1 week ahead of schedule.

Pre-school were able to move into the new room as planned with no incomplete tasks. During our first year we experienced very few minor problems and when we did have a problem a quick call and one of Martyn’s team would be round to fix it. After a year of use the architect has just completed his final inspection and found everything to be satisfactory.

A big thank you to Martyn and his team from the committee of Braunston Pre-school.

Steve and Sue Neville

Having your entire home remodelled over a 7 month period was certainly a major event for Sue & I, but right from the start we established a great rapport and trust with Martyn and his team. Not only did he create from the architects’ plans a result which exceeded our expectations but he also helped us through the enormous number of decisions that you need to make throughout such an undertaking and was always there with ideas to make everything just right.

The whole project was completed with minimal delay staying almost entirely to the initial schedule – despite the weather and our own delays with the lighting choice! We had no surprises either with the budget and whilst there were some changes and additions as we went through the project we were always kept well aware of the cost and there were no hidden surprises.

Whenever we needed to ask something or had a problem – mostly not of Martyn’s making – he was always there on the end of a phone to calmly take control of the situation and take our problem away.

One of the features of the build was a ground source heat pump and under floor heating system – this really does work and I just wonder if Martyn had to learn to read Swedish as well as all his other talents!

This was a fantastic experience made possible by Martyn and his team – you don’t always expect to end such a project and be able to say that you would not have done it any other way and that your choice of builder was spot on – we can and would recommend Martyn unreservedly to anyone seeking a really professional, knowledgeable and supremely reassuring builder for their project.

The quality of the work has been first class and we still get up in the morning and say wow. We know we have been lucky to find Martyn – he was recommended to us by friends and we hope that you too can share in this good fortune.

Martyn, you, Peter, Ben and all the others have transformed our lives – thank you very very much.

Many thanks for constructing our new bathroom in such an efficient and speedy way. We are most impressed with the finish; it looks quite magnificent and reflects the first class and skilled workmanship that you and your colleagues brought to bear on the project. We were also pleased with the timing; everyone involved did their part exactly as you had planned and consequently we were presented with a finished bathroom well within your given schedule.

Finally, it was so nice to have a group of expert craftsmen who were so cheerful to have around, please pass on our thanks to them.

John & Fiona Dennett

Martyn and his team have completed our new garden centre retail shop, staffroom and toilet block. We are delighted with the result and have received numerous compliments from our customers.

We were particularly pleased to be able to open for Easter weekend, having insisted that we bring the completion date forward by 3 weeks! This put the team under considerable pressure; however, they rose to the challenge allowing us to open for the Easter trade.

Martyn and his team were excellent and all work was carried out to a high standard.
